Middleton Harriers Athletic Club

Middleton Harriers is a small, friendly running club based at Hopwood Hall in Middleton, Manchester.

Road running involves a large number of the club's membership. It also has a wide range of members, both in terms of age and ability.

All age groups and abilities are welcome at the club.  Runners usually form into groups of varying ability so don't be put off.  Running is for everyone!

We also have a varied social calendar which involves the occasional tipple.

Training Nights

Monday Night Autumn/Winter Sessions
The nights are drawing in rapidly now and for the following 3 Mondays, training will be based at Hopwood College.

TRACK SESSIONS- Monday night coaching at the track will recommence on the 28th January.  Sessions will be held as last year at Springhill Track, Kingsway, Rochdale.  Although the track is booked from 7.30 pm, it is usually available from 7.15 pm, so groups or individuals wishing to arrive early can do so.  The cost has increased this year to £2 per person [we made a substantial loss last year].  From later this year, the new link road with the M62 from Junction 21 will be open, this meets Kingsway adjacent to the track, reducing travel time from Middleton by using the M62.

We really would like you to support this venture again and this will be the official venue for Monday night training with the Club.  Please come along and enjoy well lit and safe facilities.  (Derek Bury)

Coaching: our qualified coaches Don Kerley and Phil Moore plus other volunteered assistance will be in attendance and the sessions will be split into groups in accordance with your individual fitness and personal preference, with the aim of improving your personal running technique, speed, strength and endurance.

Monday Night Spring Training Sessions
Now that spring is here and the lighter nights are rapidly approaching, the track sessions at Springhill will finish on Monday night, 7th April, it is intended that these will begin again in October.  Our thanks go to Derek acting as organiser and cashier and the two intrepid coaches Phil Moore and Don Kerley for their enthusiasm and expertise.

Heaton Park Monday Night Training
Following on from the track nights, training sessions in all shapes and sizes will spring into action, within the park boundaries.  The start is Monday 14th April and on the subsequent Monday nights.  The meeting point is the Sheepfoot Lane car park at 7.00 to 7.15 pm.

Wednesday Night Training
There are 2 groups that set off at the following times:
6.45 pm for 7.00 pm - the main ladies group meets at 6.45 pm to start running at 7.00 pm
7.15 pm - The last group, which is also mixed, and is generally the faster group sets off
